Reconciliation
Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Penance, we are reconciled with God by making a good confession to a Priest. “Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins.” (Lumen Gentium, No. 11) Sin is an offense against God and, at the same time, damages the faithful’s communion with the Church. We are called to come back to our merciful savior through the sacrament of Penance; return to our heavenly Father wholeheartedly.
This sacrament allows us to do that – “To return to communion with God after having lost it through sin is a process born of the grace of God who is rich in mercy…one must ask for this precious gift for oneself and for others.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 1489) Going to confession and receiving absolution is the only way we can amend our relationship with God and with the Church. It is integral to our life as Christians. We encourage everyone to come back often, refreshed and renewed.
Confession Schedule: The sacrament of reconciliation is available on Saturdays from 3:15PM to 4PM, or anytime by appointment.
Children in our Parish are required to register for our PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) which is combined with the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena or our Parish School (St. John Vianney).
