Baptism

The sacrament of Baptism is the beginning of new life with Christ. It is necessary for salvation. Our receiving this sacrament is the first step to growing in faith; then to continue to grow our faith in Christ Jesus. “Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 1213) In the sacrament of Baptism, we receive forgiveness of all sins, including original sin, and we become new - an adopted child of God and a temple of the Holy Spirit.

We also become incorporated into the Body of Christ – baptized into the one body of the Church. “From the baptismal fonts is born the one People of God of the New Covenant, which transcends all the natural or human limits of nations, culture, races, and sexes.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, No. 1267)

Parents must be active, registered and participating parishioners of St. Francis.  Godparents are required to have a Letter of Sponsorship from their parish and presented to St. Francis one month prior to the baptism.

Baptisms are scheduled with the parish office.  610-433-6102.
